1.     Definitions

        State funded scholarships are those scholarships funded with funds appropriated to the University
        by the State of Texas. These include scholarships funded through tuition set asides, Special Item
        Appropriations, and Available University Fund allocations.

2.     Criteria

        State funded scholarships administered by the University will be awarded based upon the following         criteria:

        2.1     Texas Public Education Grant – Texas Resident (Account # 226700)

                  Must be a Texas Resident.
                  Must have a minimum 2.50 semester and cumulative GPA.
                  Must show financial need by qualifying for student aid.
                  Must be an undergraduate.

        2.2     Texas Public Education Grant – SSIG Texas Resident (Account # 226700)

                  Must be a Texas Resident.
                  Must have a minimum 2.00 semester and cumulative GPA.
                  Must show financial need by qualifying for student aid.
                  Must be an undergraduate.

         2.3    Texas Public Education Grant – Non- Texas Resident (Account # 226705)

                  Must be a Non-Texas Resident.
                  Must have a minimum 2.50 semester and cumulative GPA.
                  Must show financial need by qualifying for student aid.
                  Must be an undergraduate.

        2.4     Texas Public Education Grant – SSIG Non-Texas Resident (Account # 226705)

                  Must be a Non-Texas Resident.
                  Must have a minimum 2.00 semester and cumulative GPA.
                  Must show financial need by qualifying for student aid.
                  Must be an undergraduate.

        2.5     Scholarships (Account # 118003)

                  Must be a Texas Resident.
                  Must have a minimum 2.50 semester and cumulative GPA.
                  Must show financial need by qualifying for student aid.
                  Must be an undergraduate.

        2.6     Academic Scholarships (Account # 118901)

                 2.6.1     Presidential Award

                             Must have graduated from high school within the past 12 months.
                             Must have a minimum recentered SAT score of 1100 or composite ACT score of 23.
                             Must have a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
                             Must maintain a minimum 3.00 GPA at the University.

                2.6.2      Distinguished Achievement Award

                             Must have graduated from high school within the past 12 months.
                             Must have a minimum recentered SAT score of 1010 or composite ACT score of 21.
                             Must have a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
                             Must maintain a minimum 3.00 GPA at the University.

                To the extent possible, awards of scholarships from this program will be made as follows:

                             a.     80% of recipients – State of Texas students
                             b.     15% of recipients – Out-of-State students
                             c.     5% of recipients – International students

       2.7   Non-Traditional Scholarship (Account # 118004)

              Must be a Texas Resident.
              Must have a minimum 2.50 semester and cumulative GPA.
              Must show financial need by qualifying for student aid.
              Must be an undergraduate.

      2.8    License Plate Insignia Scholarship (Account # 118005)

              Must be a Texas Resident.
              Must have a minimum 2.50 semester and cumulative GPA.
              Must show financial need by qualifying for student aid."
              Must be an undergraduate.

      2.9   Fifth Year Accounting Scholarship (Account # 118115)
     
              
Must be enrolled at least half time.
              
Must have completed at least 120 hours of college course work at the beginning of the
              term in which the award is being made.
              
Must be making academic progress.
             
Must plan to take the CPA examination in the State of Texas.
              
Must show financial need.

     2.10   University Scholars Award (Account # 118098)

               Must be a Texas Resident.
               
Must meet the academic performance criteria for entry into the University Scholars Program.
              
Must maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA at the University.

    2.11     ROTC Scholarship (Account # 118902)

                 Must be enrolled in the Army or Navy Officers Training Corps program at Prairie View
                 A&M University.
                 
Must be a U. S. Citizen.Must be a high school graduate.
                 
Must reside on campus unless recommended for off-campus housing by professor of
                 military science.
                
Must maintain a minimum 2.50 GPA at University.
                 
Must complete and submit University Academic Scholarship Application to professor
                 of military science for recommendation of scholarship.

     2.12     Student Nurse Stipends (Account #118001)

                 Must be in "good standing" in nursing major, clinical sequence.
                
Must not have failed a nursing major course during previous clinical semester.
                 
Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess valid I-151 or I-6878.
                 
Must not be a Registered Nurse.
                
Must have established financial need based on Financial Aid Form index.
                
Awards will be based upon a point system which considers the student’s grade
                 point average, number of hours enrolled, and organizational/professional affiliation.

    2.13      Regents’ Student Merit Scholarships (Account # 118907)

                 2.13.1    National Merit Finalist

                              Must have graduated from high school with the past 12 months.
                             
Must be a National Merit Finalist, as designated by the National Merit Corporation.
                             
Must have a high school class rating in the top five percent.
                             
Must maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA at the University.

                2.13.2     Non-National Merit Finalist

                               Must have graduated from high school with the past 12 months.
                              
Priority given to Texas residents.
                              
Must have a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
                              
Must have a minimum recentered SAT score of 1200 or composite ACT score of 25.
                               
Must have record of leadership involvement.
                              
Must maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA at the University.

3.     Awarding of Scholarships

        All scholarships will be processed through the Scholarship Office and awarded by the Student
        Financial Aid Office. Procedures for processing scholarship awards will be established and/or
        maintained by the Student Financial Aid Office.
