Password Reset FAQ's

What does the Mypassword Reset tool do?
This tool allows you, the faculty/staff member, to go in and reset your password should you be locked out or have forgotten it. You no longer have to contact any other department for assistance with passwords. You just have to provide certain information, which then will be verified against what is already stored in the system and then you will be allowed to reset your password.
How does my information get into the system?
It's captured in Banner and uploaded and that is why it's important that you go into PV Place and update your information.

Can I use any word for my password?"
No, there are certain criteria that should be followed when creating a safe and strong password. Passwords should contain the following:

  • At least 8 characters long
  • Must have a uppercase, lowercase and a number
  • Use one of the special characters !@#$^&*()
Can I reset my password to what it was before?
No, you cannot use the same password. You cannot use the last 10 passwords that you previously used. You have to create a strong password. A strong password is a combination of letters, numbers and special characters.

Why is the tool asking for my Personal Email address?
This information will be used to check against what we have in our system and it helps to confirm that you are indeed the person trying to reset your password. It's done for your safety to protect your identity.
