Who could imagine college students giving back to their FUTURE alma mater? Of course, they’re broke right? Not PVAMU students. Even now, PV students feel a deeply rooted connection to their institution of higher learning. With the launch of the inaugural Student Giving Campaign that began in the 2012 fall semester, students made a bold statement to all constituents. They understand the fundamental principle of philanthropy; in other words, paying it forward, “For Students, By Students.”
Their understanding that collective participation produces great results has raised awareness about the significance of giving back. The Stuff the Pig Initiative raised over $1,000 in its three week campaign. This exciting dorm competition amongst all freshman dormitories piqued the interest of other students to get involved. Building 42 took the lead and won the challenge.
With Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day approaching, we are gearing up for exciting events where students will have more opportunities to showcase their support, gratitude and sentiments to Prairie View A&M University and their peers. A committee of dedicated student volunteers commit time to make this ongoing campaign a success. Their level of commitment and enthusiasm motivates others outside of PV, to get involved. Stay tuned, it’s going to be another exciting semester.
