Responsibilities

The intern will enhance his/her writing skills in a broad range of communication platforms.  The development of these skills will allow the student to excel in both the classroom and working environments.  Marketing skills developed through this internshipswill aid the student in handling various social media sites and understand the importance of remaining professional at all times.  The intern will develop networking opportunities as well as develop his or her public speaking skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing assistance in executing assigned university marketing campiagns through:
    • Drafting and distributing calendar listings and media alerts
    • Compiling and qualifying media lists
    • Collecting, copying and scanning publicity clips
    • Assessing media value
    • Performing research
    • Coordinating event logistics and assisting with on-site execution
  • Participate in administrative functions, as shared by all personnel, including:
    • Answering phones
    • Filing and copying
    • Arranging and editing photography
    • Attending staff meetings
  • Attend and partcipate in various meetings to include:
    • Client meetings
    • Media training sessions
    • Traffic meetings
    • Brainstorming sessions
Qualifications
  • Candidate must be in final 1-2 years of undergraduate studies in marketing, communications, English or a related field
  • General knowldge of basic communication tools used to support marketing communications and branding campaigns (i.e. media relations, advertising, collateral, events, social media, internet, grass-roots, etc.)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, using initatives
  • Simultaneously managing a broad range of functions and high impact tasks in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
