Class Scholarships

Class Scholarships

Class scholarships are made available through the generous donations of that alumni class. These honorable scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to those eligible students who complete and submit the general scholarship application by the specified deadline. These scholarships are awarded on an annual basis, until all scholarship funding has been disbursed.

Class of 1943 Scholarship

  • Open to all full-time students of any major (Minimum 12 semester hours per semester);
  • Open to in-state and out of state students;
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Class of 1949 Scholarship

  • To Be Determined.

Class of 1950 Scholarship

  • Open to U.S.. Citizen;
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Minimum 2.8 GPA to renew scholarship);
  • Must be involved in extracurricular activities;
  • Need based or lack of financial resources.

Class of 1952 Scholarship

  • Must be chosen by the Class of 1952 Committee;
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Class of 1953 Scholarship

  • Recent high school graduate entering college for the first time or a previous recipient of the Class of 53/50 Scholarship;
  • Must be enrolled as a full time student (Minimum 12 semester hours per semester);
  • Must not have any juvenile or criminal convictions within the previous 2 years;
  • SPECIAL AWARD: Any student enrolled on a full-time basis may apply for this award on a special circumstance or emergency basis, depending on availability.

Class of 1954 Scholarship

  • Open to all full-time students of any major (Minimum 12 semester hours per semester).

Created in honor of the class of 1954.

Class of 1955 Scholarship

  • Open to Freshmen;
  • Three letters of recommendation (No family members);
  • Must submit a copy of high school transcript;
  • Submit an essay which describes:
      • Why an education is important
      • Career objectives
      • Plans to give back to the community
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA;
  • Must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours.

Class of 1957 Scholarship

  • Open to U.S.. Citizen;
  • Entering high school graduates must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, 1000 SAT or 20 ACT score;
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA;
  • Must be involved in extracurricular activities.

Class of 1958 Scholarship

  • Open to all full-time students of any major;
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA;
  • Submit an essay that describes personal background and career goals (must write Thank You letter, if selected);
  • Need based or lack of financial resources.

Class of 1959 Scholarship

  • Open to Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors;
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 semester GPA (No grades less than a C)

Class of 1960 Scholarship

Class of 1961 Scholarship

  • Open to all full-time students of any major (Minimum 12 semester hours per semester);
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 semester GPA;
  • Need based or lack of financial resources.

Class of 1965 Scholarship

  • Nursing Major;
  • Need based or lack of financial resources.

Class of 1978 Scholarship

  • Open to U.S.. Citizen;
  • Open to full-time Sophomores;
  • Engineering Major;
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA;
  • Demonstrate characteristics in Leadership, Community Service, and Scholastic Aptitude;
  • Submit an Official Transcript and essay that describes career goals and leadership characteristics;
  • Three referral letters (2 from PVAMU Faculty and 1 from Community Officials).
