The Panther Doll Dance Team was founded in 1999 as a student organization, and then became a support/spirit group for Prairie View A&M University under the Student Activities Department. Since then, the dance team has become one of Prairie Views brightest traditions. The team consists of approximately 20 young ladies that wish to continue their dance careers while entertaining the sport fans at PV men’s, women's basketball games, and Volleyball games. The dance team is under the direction of Mrs. Shante’ Moore
The team has become a support group for the Prairie View A&M men's and women's basketball team, and Volleyball team. They perform half-time and timeout routines at all home games, and travel to post season tournaments. In addition to performing at all of the men's and women's home basketball games, the Panther Doll Dance Team has performed at professional sports arenas during the Houston Rockets games. The team also performs for many different events held on campus and some off campus events as well. The Panther Dolls sponsor a Day Dance Camp held in the fall of each year, to help elementary, middle and high school dancers with technique, and choreography. The dancers who participate get to perform along with the Panther Dolls at one of the half times.

Members of the team practice 10-12 hours a week during the normal school year. Like other athletic teams, they weight and cardiovascular train for better strength and endurance. Attendance is mandatory at all performances and practices. The Panther Doll Dance Team comes second only to academics. Prairie View A&M University is an exemplary academic institution, and our members traditionally are able to balance school and practice very well. In fact, several of our members hold above a 3.5 GPA and have won numerous academic awards while representing the University as Panther Doll Dance Team members.

New members will be required to purchase practice wear, tights, warm-ups, a T-shirt, sweatshirt, dance bag, and other miscellaneous items during the first few months of membership. These costs total roughly $395. At this time, the team is unable to offer any scholarships.
