The University Dining Program is a full service commercial operation that offers students, faculty, staff and guests a complete array of choices for their dining convenience and health needs. Although all students who reside in University College and University Village are required to participate in the board program, there are exemption categories and the method of applying for each are outlined below.
Category 1 - Student Teaching allows students who are enrolled in the student teaching program or courses and resides on campus to be exempt as a result of a course requirement, which causes them to teach or assist a teacher during a regular term. This process is initiated by a letter from the Dean in the College of Education. And is also indicated by the student course schedule.
Category 2 - Co-op/Intern allows a student who is registered & enrolled in an internship and residing on campus to be exempt from the dining program based on requiring the student to be away from campus during meal hours. This process is initiated by course selection and will be noted on the student's final course schedule.
Category 3 - Medical waiver is a provision that allows students with special dietary needs to be exempt from the dining program due to possible health risks. The process is initiated by the submission of a letter from a physician on letterhead accompanied by an outlined diet that is specific to the student and the student's condition. This information will be evaluated by the food services provider and an exemption will be based solely on their ability to meet or not meet the medical requirements. Please note that a student can not be evaluated until all required documents are submitted.
Category 4 - Graduate/Professional allows a student who is enrolled in graduate school to be exempt from the dining program. This process is initiated by course selection and will be noted on the student fee receipt in the tuition category.
Category 5 - Off Campus students who were previously on campus must complete a Day Student Form to change their status from on campus to off campus. The Day Student Form must be completed and turned in to Auxiliary Services by the 12th class day for the Fall/Spring semester and the 4th class day for the Summer semester. Students who turn in there form before the 12th class day(fall/spring) and 4th class day(summer) will be billed for meals eaten. After the 12th class day(fall/spring) and 4th class day(summer) students will be billed for number of days.
