Shannon Marquez
Shannon Marquez is Executive Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Marquez also serves as Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Health Policy and Public Health. An accomplished scholar and experienced administrator, Dr. Marquez has garnered local, national, and international recognition. She is recognized for her work in the field of global health and has expertise in safe water systems, agricultural health and water-related illnesses. She has been invited to lecture on topics related to her research in Sweden and in the developing countries of Africa.
Marquez currently serves on the Philadelphia Board of Health, as one of eight members appointed by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. Previously, she was Associate Professor of Public Health, Director of the Master of Public Health program, and Director of the Center for Global Health in the Temple University College of Health Professions. Prior to joining Temple, she taught at the University of Texas Health Science Center at the Houston School of Public Health.
Dr. Marquez earned the PhD in environmental health sciences and engineering with a focus in environmental management and policy, from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a master’s in environmental engineering from Texas A&M University, and a bachelor’s degree from Prairie View A&M University.
