Under the early tutelage of alumna Opal Johnson Smith and alumnus Hensley Sapenter, Kim Runnels has become a key strategist and fundraiser for the annual PVAMU Dallas Alumni Scholarship Gala.
In this capacity Runnels oversees event marketing and promotion, donor solicitation at different levels of sponsorship, program development, entertainment , and ensuring the flow and movement of gala activities for the enjoyment of guests.
Runnels is employed by the Dallas Independent School District where she focuses upon partnership development and volunteer recruitment .
She is president of the Dallas Alumni Chapter and is active in the National Alumni Association. Runnels earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Prairie View A&M University.
