Samuel LondonSamuel  G. London Jr. is the author of Seventh-day Adventists and the Civil Rights Movement, which is the first in-depth study of the denomination’s participation in civil rights politics. It considers the extent to which the denomination’s theology influenced how its members responded. The book explores why a brave few Adventists became social and political activities and why a majority of the faithful   eschewed the movement. 

Dr. London is an assistant professor of History at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He currently teaches American history, African-American intellectual history, the Civil Rights Movement, and   African history and culture. Professor London also teaches a course titled the Roots of Modern Culture, as well as the Capstone Senior Seminar.

His research interests include American religious history and all things relevant to the African-American experience. Professor London received the Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Prairie View A&M University, the Master of Arts in History from Sam Houston State University and a Ph.D. in American History from Purdue University.
