The Office of Admissions and Student Services recently honored its volunteer Health Education Assistants during a “Volunteer Appreciation Coffee” at the College of Nursing. Mrs. Joan Dolen, a retired nurse, and Ms. Irencarr Young, a University of Houston biology student, have been volunteered with the office during the spring 2009 semester. Ms Adachi Emenaha, who also works at the American Medical Institute, and is interested in a career in nursing, has volunteered with the Office for the past year, but was unable to attend the event. Faculty and staff from the College of Nursing also thanked the volunteers as the sipped coffee and tee complimented with an array of breakfast pastries provided by the Office of Admissions and Student Services staff. The volunteers received certificates of appreciation and were taken on a VIP tour of the building. Ms. Helen Farr, secretary, for the Office says, “ our volunteers have been so very helpful, particularly with compiling marketing and recruiting materials for career and education fairs” throughout the semester.
