Founded as the first of its kind in the U.S., the College of Juvenile Justice and Psychology and the Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center, offer specialized training and research opportunities to individuals seeking to become leading academicians and practitioners in the areas of juvenile justice and psychology. The College and Center are housed in a 68,000 square foot, state-of-the-art building, complete with offices for faculty, staff and graduate students. The structure also includes classrooms, seminar rooms, research laboratories, training rooms, a psychology clinic, a mock courtroom and a lecture auditorium. The first three doctoral degrees in the history of Prairie View A&M University were awarded in juvenile justice. Faculty and professional staff represent numerous academic disciplines, while educating students within a diverse curricula. Highly competitive assistantships are available to eligible full-time students. In January 2006, the College’s first refereed journal, Knowledge and Best Practices in Juvenile Justice & Psychology, was published.
