IAC Luncheon 2012 
The Prairie View A&M University Civil & Environmental Engineering Department’s Industry Advisory Council (IAC) is holding it's fourth annual benefit luncheon on March 27th, 2012. The theme of the program is, “Fueling Houston’s Future with New Ideas in Rail and Energy”. The speakers for the event are Judge Robert A. Eckels, President of Lone Star High-Speed Rail, LLC and Bruce York, Vice President of Construction for Endicott Biofuels. The master of ceremonies for the event is our Alumni Mr. Jackie Freeman, P.E., - Harris County Deputy Director of Public Infrastructure.

Student Awarded 2011-12 USDA/1890 National Scholarship
Ms. Arndreya Howard is awarded the 2011-2012 USDA/1890 National Scholarship from the USDA Forest Service. Ms. Howard will major in civil engineering. Arndreya comes to us from J. Frank Dobie High School where she is in the top 10% of her class and has a GPA of 4.5 on a 5 point scale. This allowed her to be accepted into the National Honor Society her junior and senior years. She was also in a minimum of three AP classes every year. Lastly Arndreya joined the National Forensic League her senior year and has been award with two seals to recognize her accomplishments.

The Prairie View A&M University Civil & Environmental Engineering Department’s Industry Advisory Council (IAC), held is third annual benefit luncheon on April 21, 2011. The theme of the program was, “Meeting the Infrastructure Needs of the Houston Area For Growth and Prosperity”. There were three great speakers discussing very interesting topics:
- Dan Krueger, P.E. - City of Houston Director of Public Works
- Eric Potts- City or Houston Airport System Chief Development Officer
- William A. Wachel, Jr., P.E. - Director of Project Management & G.I.S.

- Jackie Freeman, P.E., - Harris County Deputy Director of Public Infrastructure
The speakers presented some incredibly important material that really hit all groups of our audience. The talks were informative and engaging and the interaction with student and practitioners was great. If you attended the event, Thank you for your support and interest in the PVAMU Civil and Environmental Engineering program and for sponsoring and attending this year’s event. If you missed the event, we would love to see you next Spring.
We had and enthusiastic response this year with over 180 in attendance. Through the generous support of our sponsors will be awarding two scholarships and providing resources for the department.
