Summer Programs

STI

The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department offers the Summer Transportation Institute (STI) program typically during the month of June each year. STI is four-week resident program whose goal is to introduce promising 11^th and 12^th grade high school students to the transportation industry. Additionally, the program motivates and allows the students to participate in mathematics, science and technological enrichment activities that supplement and encourage college preparatory pursuits. This program is sponsored by the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration and is under the direction of Dr. Kommalapati.

Garrett A. Morgan Transportation Summer Camp Program

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Prairie View A&M University is offering a one-week non-resident summer camp under the U.S. Department of Transportation sponsored Garrett A. Morgan Technology and Transportation Education Program. Students from the Hempstead and the surrounding ISDs are invited. The camp will inspire students to choose careers in transportation so that the nation will have the skilled workforce needed to operate and maintain the world’s best transportation system.

Application Deadline: June 30^th, 2011
Program Dates:
July 10-16, 2011 (9th & 10 Graders);
July 17-23, 2011 (11th & 12th Graders)
