GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE
Students are provided an opportunity to address problems or matters of concerns through procedures as defined in the university catalog/handbook for the following:
- Sexual Harassment
- Disciplinary Action
- Parking Citation
- Academic Suspension
- Disability Services
- Grade Disputes
If students have problems or matters of concerns that are not covered under the headings noted above, they may proceed as noted below:
Informal Procedures
Students are encouraged to settle problems or matters of concerns with the person with whom they have an issue or if it is a department/office issue, with the person directly responsible for the department/office. If direct contact is inappropriate, students should follow the chain of command and start with the person’s immediate supervisor, move up to the next level, ending with the Vice President for the area in which the problems, issues, or concerns are noted.
Formal Procedures
Students may enter a formal grievance by writing the problems, issues, or concerns and forwarding the signed and dated document to the Vice President for Student and Enrollment Services.
The Vice President will review and investigate or designate a person or persons to review and investigate the problem, issue, or concern. A response to the problem, issues, concerns should be provided to the student within ten (10) working days. If reviewed by a person or persons, a copy of the investigation and recommendation should be submitted to the Vice President for Student and Enrollment Services. If additional time is needed to perform the investigation, the student should be informed in writing and the expected date of closure should be included in the notification.
Appeal
If a student is not satisfied with the decision provided by the person or persons assigned to review the problems, issues, or concerns, the student may appeal to the Vice President for Student and Enrollment Services. A final response to the appeal will be provided within ten (10) working days. If this is not possible, the student will be notified in writing regarding the expected date of closure for the appeal.
The Vice President for Student and Enrollment Services’s decision is final.
