Dr. Kenyatta Phelps, Adjunct Assistant Professor

Dr. Kenyatta Phelps earned her B.A. in Sociology and M.A. in Applied Behavioral Science from Wright State University, and Ph.D. in Sociology from Bowling Green State University.  She has co-authored two publications, “The Influence of Dating Partners on Adolescents’ Academic Achievement” and “What Can I do?  Applying Classroom Knowledge to Service Work, or Doing Practice Sociology.”  Her research interests are mental health, education, academic preparedness, service-learning, college satisfaction, African American adolescence, African American dating patterns, social inequality, urban communities, and African American health.  Dr. Phelps serves as the secondary advisor for the African Student Association (ASA) and the primary advisor for the Sociology Club.  She is currently working on two research projects concerning African American college preparation and African American dating relations.
