General Description
 
Prairie View A&M University is one of three constitutionally-designated “Institutions of the First Class” in Texas. The main campus is located approximately 45 miles northwest of Houston, Texas, on U.S. Highway 290, with enrollment of over 8000. The College of Juvenile Justice & Psychology is 8 years old, and offers undergraduate degrees in criminal justice and psychology, master’s degrees in Juvenile Justice and Juvenile Forensic Psychology, and Ph.D. degrees in Juvenile Justice and Clinical Adolescent Psychology. The College is affiliated with the Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center, providing excellent research potential for faculty. This is a full-time twelve month position responsible for overseeing the administration of all aspects of the student experience from recruitment through graduation, teaching one course at the doctoral level, coordinating the degree programs in the College, research, fund-raising and proposal writing and budget development. It also requires the development of strategies for achieving the College’s goals and participation in the development of program initiatives. The position is available immediately.

 

 

Salary
 Commensurate with experience
Education
 
An earned PhD degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology or related field is required.  The JD degree is not an appropriate degree for this position.
Experience
 Must be eligible for rank of  Associate or Full Professor with 12 or more years teaching experience, and highly accomplished in research.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
 The candidate should be highly published, have demonstrated capability in research and publishing, grant writing and have a willingness and commitment to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students. Specific consideration will be given t o candidates who have demonstrated success with grants, contracts receipt and management.
