Devethia D. Guillory

Devethia D. Guillory earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Houston. She obtained a Bachleor of Arts in History in 2000 and a Master of Arts in History in 2004. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Ph. D. program at the University of Houston. The primary focus of her research is African American slavery. She has examined the relationship between English poor law and the establishment of slavery in colonial Virginia. Her current research is focused on African Americans’ experiences and their pursuit of freedom during the Revolutionary War Era. She is a member of the national honor society, Phi Kappa Phi. She has taught at several area colleges and universities including the University of Houston, Tomball Community College, Texas Southern University, and Devry University.
