Vivian J. Dorsett, ABD., obtained her Bachelor of Science in Theatre and Sociology and her Master of Science in Theatre from Texas A&M University-Commerce. At TAMU-Commerce she was a member of Alpha Psi Omega honor society and performed with SHADOW, a performance troupe sponsored by TAMU-Commerce and the state of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. She is has been employed on the campus of Prairie View A&M University since 2004, completing her PhD in JJUS, while working as a staff assistant for University College and teaching ACCESS. Her theatre interest and experience is in costuming, stage makeup/hair and use of theatre in the classroom.Ms. Dorsett’s personal research studies and publishing involves sociodrama and applied theatre, as she uses non-traditional theatre techniques in her teaching, advocacy and outreach. She uses these techniques in breaking down cultural and social barriers in the groups that she teaches. She has been a writer, director, producer and designer for community theatre, youth at risk, higher education, private and non-profit organizations across the state of Texas.
