Hardy L. Bates
Hardy L. Bates is a native of Houston, Texas who was raised in northeast Texas. He received his BA in Theatre from Southern Arkansas University and his M.A. from Louisiana Tech University, where he focused on lighting and sound design. Hardy is a firm believer in practicing "quality" theatre. He has spent over six years designing lights for multiple productions and events on the academic level and abroad. He has worked with The New Victory Theatre in New York where he served as Assistant Lighting Designer for Chestnuts Roasting on the Flaming Idiots and has served as the Technical Supervisor for Public Awareness Theatre in Louisiana. Recent projects include scenic and lighting design for Ruined, and scenic design for The Wiz at Grambling State University where Mr. Bates served as the Interim Technical Director.
