Thursday, February 11, 2010 11:33 AM

Prairie View, Texas—In an effort to promote Breast Cancer Awareness, Prairie View A&M Women’s Basketball team will host “Think Pink Day” on Monday, February 15 against Grambling State University. The women’s game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. Some of the proceeds from the game will be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association) Cancer Fund and the American Society.

The “Think Pink” initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.

We are encouraging all alumni, fans, family, and friends to wear something pink and cheer on the Lady Panthers.

“Many of us know somebody that has been affected by breast cancer and we are more than happy to do our part in raising awareness of this disease,” said Prairie View’s Athletic Director Fred Washington. “We are looking forward to what should be a really special day.”

Breast cancer survivors are encouraged to attend the game in pink and support the cause. If you are a breast cancer survivor we want to recognize you at the game, so please contact 936-261-9126 or email tmwilson@pvamu.edu and leave your name and contact information.

The Prairie View Lady Panthers are currently in 1st place with a 9-1 conference record and are looking for their third win in a row on their quest for another SWAC Regular season title. Nationally, the Lady Panthers are ranked 13th in steals per game, 65th in blocks per game, and 79th in scoring defense.
