Prairie View A&M Edges Grambling State 2-1Friday, November 06, 2009 07:55 PM Coming into the SWAC tournament ranked #3 Prairie View A&M upset the #1 seed Grambling State in a tight 2-1 match on Friday. The Lady Panthers got on the board first when Yosselyn Aguilar connected on an unassisted goal from 30 yards out. Prairie View's Abigail Escobar would follow up with a goal at the 35:35 minute mark off an assist from Marissa Woods, putting the Lady Panthers up 2-0. With just 25 seconds remaining in the first half the Lady Tigers forward Kelsie Sherfield broke away down the middle of field and found the back of the goal, putting the halftime score at 2-1. Although full of action, the second half wouldn't see a goal as the Lady Panthers held on for the 2-1 victory and are headed for the title match on Sunday. The Lady Panthers will take on the winner of the Jackson State/Arkansas-Pine Bluff match on Sunday. |
