With the season coming to an end the Lady Panthers honored their seniors; Mayra Castillo, Kendahl Williams, and Jessica Garcia as it was the senior’s final game in the purple and gold of Prairie View.

The opportunistic Lady Panthers struck instantly on Monica Diaz’s seventh minute rebound that she was able to perfectly time off the post by putting a foot on the ball, from a shot Abigal Escobar took from ten yards out that hit the post putting Prairie View up 1-0. Continuing to press the Lady Lions, Abigal Escobar was able to score a goal of her own in the eleventh minute, with a mix up in the back line of TSU Escobar was able to take advantage and steal the ball away from the defender scoring the second goal of the game.

With three seconds to play in the first half, Prairie View was awarded a free kick from a hard foul made by TSU on Prairie View forward Kendahl Williams. Yosselyn Aguilar made TSU pay with a direct shot from 25 yards out that went off the fingertips of TSU goalkeeper into the back of the net closing TSU out in the first half 3-0.

Prairie View came out with the same energy in the second half but was unable to capitalize on multiple opportunities out-shooting TSU (19-10). Senior goalie JessicaGarcia closed out her final home game at Prairie View with a perfect game, recording a shutout and three saves.

“We have been playing very well and with the senior leadership the rest of the season is looking good going into the SWAC tournament,” said head coach Abe Garcia. “Being consistent is the key, we must continue to play together.”
