Central Arkansas scored a pair of goals to spoil the season debut of the Prairie View A&M Lady Panther soccer team in a 2-0 win on Friday evening.
Cori Kaplinger scored the Bears’ first goal off an assist from Brittney Warren less than three minutes into the match. Holding a 1-0 lead late into the second period, UCA padded its margin after Kelsey Gochnauer’s shot soared past PVAMU goalie Jessica Garcia.
“We played well but didn’t have many opportunities on the scoring end,” said head coach Roger Garcia. “However, I can see the difference between this year and last year at this point and look forward to the rest of the year.”
Prairie View returns to action on Sunday, Aug. 30 with a home match against Sam Houston State at 1 p.m.
