Construction & Planning In-House Training Programs

Construction & Planning In-House training programs are unique because the offer small Architect/Engineer’s and Contractors an opportunity to learn on the job, develop and grow. These programs are one-on-one and group orientated. The uniqueness of the program is that Architect/Engineer’s and Contractors seldom realize their development until they start acquiring new work based on their association with Prairie View A&M University, Construction & Planning Office. Construction & Planning is dedicated in its quest to help vendors with the interpretation of State regulations, Texas A&M University System Facilities Policies and Guidelines, how to complete Texas A&M University System and Prairie view A&M University paperwork as well as improve presentation skills regarding construction documentation.

Presently, this is done by three methods:

A. During each pre-bid conference a 30 minute class is held on how to fill out our HUB Subcontracting Plan and Bidding Documentation. This one basic skill can be utilized by Contractors and adopted to fit other state bids for Texas.

B. The Architect/Engineer growth development program allows small Architect/Engineer firms who normally do not act as the principle planner to do so. This program encourages small Architect/Engineer firms to raise the bar in their own growth and development. Architect/Engineer’s must have insurance.

C. The contractor growth development program allows a small contractor with no bonding capabilities to develop a record of recorded growth in order to seek future bonding. These contractors must have insurance. They can only do work on campus from $1.00 to $24,999.00. Only work of the highest quality is accepted by Construction & Planning. Therefore, the contractor’s subs must perform as well.
