The Queen's House of Blues, R&B, and a little splash of Country | Michelle DeSelle's
(Monday - Friday, 6 PM - 10:00 PM)
Michelle DeSelle is a twenty year public speaker, a journalist, and an on-air personality. A native Houstonian and one of the most positive and upbeat people you will ever meet. Her love for radio started when she was just a young girl, growing up in a small town in East Texas. She was one of the lead singers in the junior choir at the small church she attended there, and the Sunday services were broadcast on the local radio station. When she heard herself for the first time on the air she was hooked and vowed to pursue her passion someday. It was in this small town where she was groomed for public speaking by teachers who loved the sound of her deep throaty voice and would give her various books to read aloud in class and poetry to recite. Ms. Truie Smith at her elementary school told her "DeSelle reading and writing go hand in hand." Thus the task began of writing summary's of every book she was given. She developed a love for all forms of communications; and later studied and obtained her degrees in broadcast journalism and communications from Texas Southern University. She co- hosted and produced the first duo gospel show at KTSU 90.9 called "Double Portion Gospel Sunday Evening" where she specialized in front lining local talent and bringing them the much deserved exposure to the listening audience.
DeSelle is now the host of her own show at KPVU 91.3 called "The Queen's House of Blues, R&B, and a little splash of Country" every Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Being passionate about all music, DeSelle is proficient in all genres of music and has the ability to play them all with great skill and knowledge. Her passion for verbal communication is also manifested in the classroom where she is a professor of Speech Communications at her beloved alma mater Texas Southern University where her work concerns the creation, analysis and critique of messages. It is here where her research and teachings devote particular attention to understanding the ways in which communication erodes and sustains collaboration within and among local, national and global communities
