Eligibility Requirements

To receive financial assistance through the Student Financial Aid Program at Prairie View A&M University, you must:

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

  • have a financial need, excluding some loan programs
  • have a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate
  • be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student working toward a degree or certificate in an eligible program
  • be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • have a valid Social Security Number
  • make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • complete a FAFSA and use funds for educational purposes
  • certify that you have not defaulted on federal student loans and that you are not required to repay any federal grant funds
  • register with the selective service, if required

GRADUATE STUDENTS

  • have a financial need, excluding some loan programs

Graduate Status Update Notification Information

Please be aware that as a graduate provisional student you can only earn up to $12,500.00 in federal student loans. 

Please be aware that as a Grad Provisional student, you can only receive up to $12,500 in federal student loans. This limit applies to all federal loans you have received from any institution at the graduate level.  Please contact Graduate School to see if you meet the criteria for your status to be updated to Grad Regular.

Graduate students admitted as "Graduate Special" or as a Post-baccalaurate/ Certification or License seeking student are ineligible for federal funding from the FAFSA application. Student will have to be a degree seeking student.

Contact your academic graduate department to complete the reevaluation form to have your status updated to graduate regular status.
