Application Process

There are two separate parts to the PhD application process.
Part I – Graduate School Application
The first part of the application process includes the following items:

  • The Texas Common Application application available at: https://www.applytexas.org/adappc/commonapp.WBX

  • An official transcript from each college or university that you have attended including evidence of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution. The transcript must be mailed directly from the college/university to the PVAMU Graduate School office.
  • Official results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The score must be on file in the Graduate School prior to the evaluation of your application. A TOEFL score is required for international students from countries where English is not the first language.
  • A $50 application fee

Part II – Departmental Application

The second part of the application should include all of the following:

  • A completed departmental application for the PhD in Educational Leadership.

  • An original essay of approximately 500 words that describes your background and professional goals including your rationale for pursuing a doctoral degree.
  • A current resume
  • Three letters of reference sealed in envelopes with the reference signature on the outside across the seal. It is the applicant’s responsibility to distribute reference forms and return them as part of the application packet.

Attention: In order to be considered for admission, both ( Graduate School and Departmental) applications must be submitted on or before March 1, 2008. When your file is complete, you may be contacted to schedule an interview.
