Prospective Student & Family Tours

When choosing a university, it is essential to become familiar with the campus atmosphere in order to make informed decisions. The Office of Recruitment & Marketing conducts tours of the campus, so that prospective students and their families can become acquainted with Prairie View A&M University.
Family tours for September 10th- April 30th are Monday-Friday at 10am.  Please select the “Online Campus Tour Request Form” link below to register.

All tours require a reservation. Please allow 72 hours for processing your request. Tours are not guaranteed until an email confirmation is received from The Office of Recruitment & Marketing.

ALL Family Tours will begin in the Commuter Room in Evans Hall on the 1st Floor. (Park in the Memorial Student Center Parking Lot and walk North across the street from the Memorial Student Center)

Tours are approximately an hour and fifteen minutes long and include a visit to the freshman learning environment, Memorial Student Center, and a glimpse of several of our prestigious buildings.

Things to know before you come

  • Your tour will be a walking tour of campus so please dress for the weather and remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Residence Hall tours are contingent upon availability
  • If you are 20 minutes late for your tour, your reservation will be changed to a self-guided tour.
  • If you require assistance, please contact the Office of Recruitment & Marketing by Email or call 936-261-1084 at least 72 hours prior to your tour

Excuse Letter Policy

High School / College registrar offices may require visiting students to have paperwork turned in to their prospective attendance or registrar’s offices to receive an absence credit from class.  The Office of Recruitment and Marketing will provide a visit letter as part of our visit policy.
* This document is on official PVAMU letterhead, and will have the exact day and time of the visit
* To receive a college visit letter, the student (s) must: Complete a PVAMU information card on the day of the visit & complete the entire tour of campus accompanied by our PVAMU Tour Guide.

Group Tours 10+

We welcome groups of perspective students to Prairie View A&M University. A group is considered to have 10 or more students. All Group Tours for September 10th-April 30th are Monday-Thursday at 10am. All Group Tours will begin in the Johnson-Phillips All Faiths Chapel.
ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL TOURS WILL TAKE PLACE ON MIDDLE SCHOOL DAY – FRIDAY, November 9TH, 2012 AND FRIDAY, MARCH 29TH, 2013
Group Tours are approximately an hour and fifteen minutes long and include a visit to the freshman learning environment, Memorial Student Center, and a glimpse of several of our prestigious buildings. Groups must register by selecting the “Schedule a Tour” link below. Groups of 50 or more must contact our office directly to schedule a tour. Please contact the Office of Recruitment & Marketing by Email or call 936-261-1084. Please have at least 3 preferred tour dates when you call.

Dining on Campus:

We invite you to grasp the full PVAMU experience by eating in our dining hall. The dining hall has set hours and may vary due to time of the year. Guest/students may eat for $7.75 per person (this is also the group rate). Hours are 11am-1pm. Due to the heavy volume in our Dining Hall, we recommend your group eat at 11am

Self Guided Tours

If you would rather take a self-guided tour and explore our campus at your own leisure you have that option. A detailed map and other relevant information will be provided.
Please note arriving 20 minutes late will require your group/family to take a Self Guided tour of the campus. Please stop by the Commuter Room in Evans Hall to pick up a Self-Guided Tour Script.

Make the Most of Your Visit

The best time to experience Prairie View A&M University is when classes are in session and our faculty, staff, and students are here on campus. Campus Tours are unavailable during final exam weeks, holidays, and special programs on campus. To better assist you with planning your visit, detailed below is dates classes are in session, University holidays and Black Out dates.

  • Thanksgiving Break             November 21st-23rd  
  • Fall Final Exams                   December 7th-12th
  • Christmas Break                   December 17th-31st
