Student Leadership Institute

The Student Leadership Institute is a training program designed to provide the opportunity, through lectures, workshops, programs and events, for the student participants to further develop their skills in leadership, communication, conflict resolution, ethics, goal setting, etiquette training, problem solving skills, and other "soft skills" needed for the students to succeed in the workplace.
The institute also emphasizes school pride and spirit, parliamentary procedure, and team building, all designed to address student recruitment and retention through peer involvement.
On graduation from the program the student participants serve as "Panther Advisor Leaders" (PALs) during the freshmen orientation week (Panther Camp) where they seek to create an atmosphere that minimizes anxiety, promotes positive attitudes and stimulates an excitement for learning.
This role expands to embody the rest of the students in the Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) family.
