Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning, with an overall 2.5 or greater grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 system (Foreign transcripts must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency).
Provide an official transcript of all university course work from all universities or colleges attended.
Have passed all three sections of the state mandated basic skills test (THEA) with the following minimum scores: Math 230, Writing 220, and Reading 260.
Be recommended by a screening committee for admission to the program.
Applicants for certification in Spanish and French must pass an oral (TOPT) and a written (TExES) proficiency examination.
