Chapel services were held in the gym for one hour and vesper would be every Tuesday evening. Students would fill the place to learn and listen about how to live productive and spiritual lives. Today, students have a beautiful edifice to worship the Creator they sever. The Johnson Phillip All Faiths Chapel was built and dedicated in February, 1986 under the leadership of the second dean of chapel, The Reverend W. Van Johnson. A building that seats over 300 was erected for the purpose of encouraging students, faculty and staff to become one with their Creator.
The history of the Johnson-Phillip All Faiths Chapel defines its purpose and functionality. Located off L.W. Minor road and University Drive, it has proudly stood as the hub of the universities spiritual activities.
