60.05         Employment of Foreign Nationals                                               Issued: May 15, 1998


1.     Eligibility

        To be eligible for employment, a foreign national must possess the appropriate visa which
        allows them to reside and work in the United States and there must be no U.S. citizen of
        equal training, experience, and competence available to fill the position.

2.     Procedures

        2.1   Departments desiring to employ a foreign national must obtain documentation showing
                that there is no U.S. citizen of equal training, experience, and competence available to
                fill the position and documentation of the candidate's visa status.

        2.2   Prior to completing the requisite Form 500 or Student Form 500 (as applicable), the
                employing department must provide the above information to the Immigration Services 
                Coordinator in the Human Resources Department for review and approval.

        2.3   Upon approval by the Human Resources Department, the employing department must 
                prepare the requisite Form 500 or Student Form 500 and submit it through the
                required approval chain.

        2.4   Upon approval by the President (for non-student employees) and the Student
                Employment Office (for student employees), the employing department will be notified
                that they may allow their foreign national to begin work.
