
Three PVAMU students took first place honors in the Southwestern Association of Criminal Justice’s Quiz Bowl.
The students’ win marks the first time PVAMU students have won the top prize since the event was established under PVAMU faculty member Camille Gibson’s SWACJ presidency in 2004-2005.
The team is comprised of students Da’Youne Smith, Aravia White and Kirk Douglas Jr., all criminal justice majors and officers in Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society- Beta Epsilon Nu Chapter. The team won a cash prize for the chapter and criminal justice textbooks from Wolters Kluwer publishers.
SWACJ is a regional group within the international professional organization the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. SWACJ represents criminal justice academics and students in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
