Four students from the College of Business competed in the case study competition at this summer’s National Association of Black Accountants convention.
Juniors Dorothy Gordon, Jonathan Amos and Clarencia Weeks and senior Ariel Walker, all accounting majors were selected by accounting firm KPMG to participate in the competitive Case Study Competition in Phoenix.
The PVAMU delegation was one of nine universities participating in the competition, each having to focus on a specific company to research and present its financial status. The group researched JP Morgan Chase, receiving a better insight on how its company operates and its detailed accounting structure. The students presented a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation to the judges, made up of KPMG managers and partners as well as the other case study teams.
The group had the opportunity to network with other competition participants from various institutions as well as several recruiting partners with Fortune 500 companies. The students interviewed and submitted resumes to Google, Coca-Cola, Dell, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and accounting firms PWC, Deloitte, Earnest Young and KPMG.
