A PVAMU alumnus and current student both took to the small screen recently to display their talents to the world on two major television shows.
Class of 2009 graduate Phill Wade was one of the many hopefuls working hard to earn the title of American Idol. Wade made it past the first round and received his ticket to Hollywood, falling just short of making the list of the semi-finalists.
Most students, faculty and staff are familiar with Wade’s singing skills and comedic prowess through YouTube videos that have turned him into a web phenom. He blends soulful R&B and fuses it with hip-hop to create and impressive sound. Last year, he released his “Phill Wade and Friends” Mixtape. Wade is a teacher at the Houston CAN Academy.

Senior Communications major Sanerica Davis took her talents to Black Entertainment Television for a special contest for aspiring models. She entered the network’s amateur model search for a chance to earn a spot on its annual “Rip the Runway” fashion show.
Davis is no stranger to the runway or the camera. She’s walked in fashion shows all over the country including Houston and Los Angeles. Plus her portfolio includes some major shots by up and coming photographers. She showed off her talents on a special episode of 106 & Park and solicited viewer votes to secure her spot on the fashion show.
Although Davis wasn’t selected, her fellow students turned out in full force to support her through social media.
