Quddus chosen as Summer Commencement Speaker

Dr. Munir Quddus

Dr. Munir Quddus is the Associate Provost for the Northwest Houston Center (NWHC) and the dean of the College of Business at Prairie View A&M University, the second oldest public institution of higher education in the State of Texas.

Quddus has worked in higher education for nearly 30 years, teaching at the University of Southern Indiana, the Economic Institute in Boulder, Colorado, Vanderbilt University, and the North South University – the first private university in Bangladesh which he helped establish in 1993, and served as its first chief academic officer.

Dr. Munir Quddus is a noted author and leading expert on the Bangladesh Economy. His works include Development: The Remarkable Story of Garment Exports from Bangladesh published in 2000; Recreating the Commons: NGOs in Bangladesh, co-edited and published in 2008.

A native of Bangladesh, Quddus earned his Ph.D. in economics from Vanderbilt University. He received his M.A. in Economics, from Vanderbilt University and earned a B.S. (Honors) in Economics from Dhaka University in 1978.

Summer 2014 Commencement will be held on August 9, 2014 at 9 A.M. A detailed outline containing rehearsal and ticket distribution schedule will be made available in the coming weeks.
