PVAMU earns seven nominations for 2014 HBCU Awards

PVAMU has been selected as a finalist in seven categories at this year’s HBCU Awards, presented by HBCU Digest and hosted by Dillard University. The nominations were submitted and reviewed by a host of individuals close to the HBCU community including students, alumni, PR officials and journalists covering historically black colleges and universities. According to HBCU Digest, nominees were selected based on their “…impact and achievement in the fields of leadership, arts, athletics, research and community engagement in the previous academic year.”

Our nominations include:

  • Best Student Government Association
  • Best Research Center- CREESE
  • Best Nursing Program
  • Female Coach of the Year – Dawn Brown
  • Female team of the Year – Women’s Basketball
  • Female Student of the Year – Priscilla Barbour
  • HBCU of the Year

Votes are counted in each category via secret ballot of 13 HBCU presidents and CHMA board members. Winners will be announced at the HBCU Awards ceremony, occurring at the culmination of the HBCU Media Summit in early July.
