PVAMU Mourns the Loss of Dr. CherRhonda Smith-Hollins

The PVAMU family is mourning the loss of Dr. CherRhonda Smith-Hollins, director of engineering services in the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering. Smith-Hollins passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Cypress, Texas.

In the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering, she was a familiar face working in the areas of student retention and recruitment. In addition, Smith-Hollins coordinated the College’s summer programs and served as a mentor for several students around the campus. She also served as an adviser to the University’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Omega Gamma chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

“Dr. Smith-Hollins was a dedicated supporter of our students. She worked diligently to assist our students in making the most of their collegiate experience,” said President George Wright. “Indeed, we are deeply saddened by her passing and we extend our condolences to her family, friends and students.”

Funeral arrangements are pending.
