Dr. Willie F. Trotty was recently honored by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Black Heritage Committee for his contributions to education.
Trotty, along with fellow honorees, were recognized during the Committee’s Annual Western Gala. He serves as special assistant to the president and has had a leadership role in building the infrastructure for research, sponsored programs and graduate education at PVAMU. He has received awards and commendations from the Purdue Education Alumni Association Board of Directors, Purdue University College of Education, Houston Teachers Association, the Council of Historically Black Graduate Schools, the Defense Information Systems Agency, NASA Johnson Space Center and others. In December 2004, Trotty was a Fulbright Scholar at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt.
In addition to honoring the service of community leaders, the Gala also serves as a fundraiser to support the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarships.
