PVAMU Mourns the Loss of Derius Bolton

Derius BoltonThe PVAMU community is mourning the loss of student Derius Bolton, who passed away on Wednesday, January 8.

Bolton, 22, was involved in an automobile wreck in Angelina County near State Highway 7 West and U.S. Highway 69 North.

A Dallas native, Bolton transferred to PVAMU from Stephen F. Austin State University. He was a student in the School of Architecture.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of Derius’ untimely passing. After beginning his college career elsewhere, he saw fit to entrust PVAMU with continuing his education. Although he was here for a short time, he was a Panther and will remain connected to this institution,” said PVAMU President George C. Wright. “The University extends our condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Golden Gate Funeral Home, 4155 South R.L. Thornton Highway, Dallas, TX, 75224. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Concord Church, 6808 Pastor Bailey Blvd., Dallas, TX, 75237.
