In recognition that service is the highest ideal to which one can aspire and consistent with the centuries old tradition in universities of recognizing outstanding service, Prairie View A&M University is establishing a Humanitarian Awards Program. The program is designed to recognize and honor individuals who have made and are continuing to make outstanding contributions to the University, the state of Texas, and the nation. The award shall be made only for service to others as distinguished from scholarship, athletic achievement, business acumen, professional achievement, political leadership or other worldly recognitions. The recipient of the award will be PVAMU’s measure of excellence in character and service to Humanity. Nominations are now being accepted for recipients of the 2006 Humanitarian Award, to be awarded at Commencement on May 13, 2006. Nominations should be based on “excellence in character and service to humanity as demonstrated or exemplified in a spirit of love for and helpfulness to other men and women.”
