Music as a Minor

Music Minors are welcome! Students are encouraged to become involved in the Music Program as a complement to their academic major. All Minors must be advised by the Music Program Director before registering for Music courses. Students who wish to minor in music must consult with a music faculty advisor for information before enrolling in music courses.  Previous participation in band and choir is desirable, but not mandatory.

Required Courses for Minors – 19 SCH

Applied Music	4 SCH
Basic Musicianship	6 SCH
Music Literature or Afro-American Music	3 SCH
Ensemble	4 SCH
Piano*	2 SCH
Total	19 SCH

*Students whose primary instrument is piano must take another music class to fulfill the 2 SCH requirements.  Please see a music advisor
