Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian was honored at the Prairie View A&M University Service-Learning and Community Service Award Recognition Reception on April 28, 2011 in the of auditorium of the Administration Building. Ms. Gay was a presented with the staff award. Ms. Gay provided library research support for more than 55 students in three Business Communication/Marketing classes that involved the development and completion of research papers that formed the foundation of ten original team service-learning projects for the College of Business.
 Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian attended the 2011 Texas Library Association Conference Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian attended the 2011 Texas Library Association Conference in Austin April 11-15, 2011. Ms. Gay serves on seven board committees of TLA. She recently was appointed to the 2012 TLA Conference Planning Committee for Houston, Texas.

Ms. Gay’s presentation was on Academic Genealogy: An Evidence Based Approach.  The workshop was the feature event for the Lone Star College’s-University Park  Black History Month programs.

Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian presented at the Harris County Public Library’s Northwest Branch Library on Saturday, March 5, 2011 as part of their Library Monthly Outreach Services.  . Ms. Gay’s presentation was on Academic Genealogy: An Evidence Based Approach. The workshop held an audience of about 40 people in attendance and was the largest workshop hosted that day.

Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian was a guest judge for the Houston Independent School DistrictsMiddle Schools’ Name that Book Contest on Friday, March 11, 2011. The  contest was held at the Department of Library Services Branch in Houston Texas and had eight schools competing in the competition. The contestants on the teams had to correctly answer the most quotes taken from about 50 various young adult books. The contest is sponsored by HISD Library Services and Media Services Departments and Barnes and Noble.

Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian -  Received a Guest Lecturer Library Fellowship from the Charles W. Chesnutt Library at Fayetteville University, N.C. Ms. Gay was invited to present two Library Fellows classes’ on Library Literacy Competency Standards in Higher Education and Technology of Web 2.0.  She participated in the conference from December 12-15, 2010.
