Symphony in Red: Paintings by Nubia Gala Seibert
August 18 – September 30, 2011 – Fourth Floor Art Gallery

Nubia  Gala Siebert is a painter whose abstract work draws inspiration from her personal history, spiritual practice and international travels. Beyond serving as a catalyst for her studio explorations, color to this artist is a universal means of communication. In an excerpt from her artist statement, Nubia expresses that abstract painting allows [her] the freedom to communicate spontaneously, take risks, and participate in an ‘adventure’ without boundaries. This exhibition’s title Symphony in Red articulates the artist’s fascination with a color that amplifies vivacity and movement.  Nubia ‘s paintings have been exhibited in Tennessee, New Mexico, California, Indonesia, and in Texas at Houston’s Jung Center, Glassell School of Art, and the Columbian Consulate. Prairie View A&M University and the John B. Coleman Library’s Fourth Floor Art Gallery are excited to host the artist’s first solo exhibition. A gallery reception with the artist will occur on September 15th from 11- 2pm. This exhibition and reception are free and open to the Public
