Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian attended and worked the 2012 Texas Library Association Conference in Houston, Texas April 16-20, 2012 as a conference planning committee member. Ms. Gay serves on seven board committees of TLA. She was recently appointed by the 2012-2013 TLA president to the 2012-2015 TLA Lariat Task Force- Reading Group. The reading group recommends fiction books for adults to all Texas State Libraries- Public, Academic and Special.

Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian -  Received a Guest Lecturer Library Fellowship from the Charles W. Chesnutt Library at Fayetteville University, N.C. Ms. Gay was invited to present two Library Fellows classes’ on Library Literacy Competency Standards in Higher Education and Technology of Web 2.0.  She participated in the conference from December 13-14, 2011.
Texas Library Association’s Library Instruction Roundtable Fall 2011 Summit, Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas September 30, 2011 Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian was the guest speaker for the Texas Library Association’s Library Instruction Roundtable Fall 2011 Summit, Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas September 30, 2011Ms. Gay gave a presentation on  Train the Librarian: From Senior to freshman: 21st Century Academic Library Instruction Skills.  Where Ms. Gay spoke about the Excitement, Engagement and Enlightenment on learning the “Best Library Practices” for ensuring the successful transition from school libraries to academic libraries for students.
Chips Quinn Scholar Program Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian was featured on the Freedom Forum Diversity Institute website on October 14, 2011. The Freedom Forum Diversity organization is celebrating its 20th anniversary of the Chips Quinn Scholar Program. Ms. Gay was a summer 2001 recipient of the scholar program. Ms. Gay’s feature includes an essay on the importance of Libraries, Laughter and Learning.
Reference and Instruction Librarian was featured in the September 9, 2011 issue of American Libraries, the magazine of the American Library Association as the Spectrum Scholar recipient. Kimberly M. Kimberly M. Gay, Reference and Instruction Librarian was awarded the Prairie View A&M University- Texas A&M University System Ten Years of Service Award Pin to the state of Texas. Ms. Gay was acknowledged at the 2011 Fall Faculty and Staff Conference on August 24, 2011.
