VPN Service

NOTICE****END OF SERVICE****JULY 31st

The current VPN service is being decommissioned as of July 31st and the new service requires prior approval from the Office of Information Resources before it can be used.

To request access, please complete the Remote Access Request Form.

Why: To improve our information security posture and following best practices, PVAMU Information Technology Services has upgraded our Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. VPN allows you to connect to PVAMU resources securely from home or any other remote connection. PVAMU will be utilizing the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client to connect to PVAMU resources.

Who: The VPN service is available to all regular, full-time PVAMU faculty or staff employees that have a valid PVAMU Domain AD User Account. The VPN services are also available for authorized contractors. If you currently have access to VPN but never submitted a VPN request to the Office of Information Resource Management, you will be required to submit the VPN form.

How: Faculty and staff can request remote access to PVAMU network by submitting Remote Access/VPN Form to informationsecurity@pvamu.edu. A letter of justification is required with the request, addressing what resources will be accessed via VPN. Requests for resources that can be accessed without VPN will be denied. If you are requesting VPN access to view data stored on your desktop or on shared drive, please contact our office and ask about Syncplicity, a cloud based storage tool used to access data from any location.

When: New VPN (Cisco AnyConnect) client is currently available for faculty & staff. The Old VPN client/service will be discontinued on July 15th, 2016. After this date, everyone must utilize the new VPN client with an approved request.
