Online Class Regulation

Online Classes – Distance Education

Each semester only one (3 hour) online class may be counted towards a full course of study. This regulation does not restrict how many online courses a student may take each semester – it restricts the number of online course hours that can be counted towards a full course of study.

Undergraduate Students

Full course load is 12 credit hours: Must take at least 9 hours of face-to-face classes and the remaining 3 hours (or more) can be online.

Graduate Students

Full course load is 9 credit hours: Must take at least 6 hours of face-to-face classes and the remaining 3 hours (or more) can be online.

Federal Regulation 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(f)(6)(i)(G)
(G) For F-1 students enrolled in classes for credit or classroom hours, no more than the equivalent of one class or three credits per session, term, semester, trimester, or quarter may be counted if taken on-line or through distance education in a course that does not require the student’s physical attendance for classes, examination or other purposes integral to completion of the class. An on-line or distance education course is a course that is offered principally through the use of television, audio, or computer transmission including open broadcast, closed circuit, cable, microwave, or satellite, audio conferencing, or computer conferencing. If the F-1 student’s course of study is in a language study program, no on-line or distance education classes may be considered to count toward classroom hours or credit.
Inclement Weather Re-Opening 1/18/18

Prairie View A&M University will reopen tomorrow January 18, 2018. Classes on the main campus, Northwest Houston Center and Nursing Campus will resume as scheduled and administrative offices will return to normal operations. We are continuing to monitor the icy road conditions across the Houston-metro area. We urge you to exercise caution as you begin your daily routine, allowing extra travel time as temperatures will remain around the freezing mark in the morning. Please continue to monitor the website and official social media channels for updates.
