2014 – 2015 General Scholarship Application The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships manages an array of scholarships for which future and current undergraduate and graduate students from all academic disciplines are eligible to apply. General University Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and financial need, and selection is highly competitive. Submission Deadline March 15, 2014 Summer 2014 Sessions April 15, 2014 Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 Semesters Eligibility Requirements To be considered for any institutional scholarship offered through the General Scholarship Application, a student must: Incoming Freshmen/Transfer Students Plan to enroll as a degree-seeking undergraduate student and be successfully admitted into the University for the upcoming semester or term in which scholarship funding is being applied Have a minimum cumulative high school/transfer GPA of 2.75 and; Plan to register as a full-time student for the Fall/Spring semesters in a minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduate and six(6) credit hours for graduate students or in a minimum of three(3) credit hours for one summer term. Returning Students Plan to enroll as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student for the upcoming semester or term in which scholarship funding is being applied; Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and returning students are required to meet satisfactory academic progress standards to be considered for scholarship funding and; Plan to register as a full-time student for the Fall/Spring semesters in a minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduate and six(6) credit hours for graduate students or in a minimum of three(3) credit hours for one summer term. Selection Process The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships will review all applications and consider the merit of the applicant’s academic achievement, recommendations, and financial need. All awards are made for the upcoming Fall and Spring Semesters through this application. Submission of an application does not guarantee an award. The application process will not re-open for the Spring 2015 semester. A majority of the scholarships offered through the Office of Student Financial and Scholarships requires that the student be eligible to receive federal student aid and demonstrate a financial need, however, all students are encouraged to apply. Award Information General University Scholarships are awarded for one year only. Students are encouraged to reapply each year. Individual scholarship awards range from $1,000 - $2,000 based upon criteria detail and availability of funding. Award Notification All recipients will be notified by July 1 if all admission and financial aid requirements have been satisfied before the notification date. Please do not contact the office, as notifications will be sent directly to those who have been awarded a scholarship. This application is made available to all incoming, transfer and returning students. Please complete the application in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
