Student Organizations

Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society

Texas Kappa Chapter, is a college-wide organization designed to support, augment, and supplement the educational and professional development of students.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
Prairie View Student Branch, is a professional society open for membership to female students majoring in an engineering curriculum at the university. The chapter is affiliated with the national professional engineering body, the Society of Women Engineers. The society fosters the intellectual, professional, personal and social development of student members.

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
Prairie View A&M chapter, is a professional society open to all students in the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering. The chapter fosters intellectual and professional development among its members and promotes growth and entry of more minority persons into the engineering profession.

Chemical Engineering Student Organizations
Prairie View’s chemical engineering department sponsors four student professional and honor societies: the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers, the Society for Petroleum Engineers and the Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society.

Civil Engineering Student Organizations
Prairie View’s civil engineering department sponsors the Civil Engineering Honors Club, as well as a student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Computer Science Student Organizations
The computer science department sponsors a student chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery, as well as a chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon Computing Science Honor Society.

Electrical Engineering Student Organizations
Prairie View is home to two national electrical engineering professional and honor society student chapters: the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society.

Mechanical Engineering Student Organizations
The Prairie View student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers is very active and has participated in many Region X meetings. Pi Tau Sigma National Honor Society recognizes and honors outstanding mechanical engineering students on the campus.
